Just shy of one hour, here’s my interview with the remarkable Leonisa Ardizzone on Tutto Italiano, Radio Kingston. It was a TIME. Fun, tender, a brisk walk back through the early—and now— years (girlhood, community organizing, marriage, motherhood, writing, teaching, and again…organizing.) Another example of what can happen when a person holds another with care (in a radio station, no less!) using good soft hands and a desire to listen. Talk about a range of topics: We touched on the Knicks win, Jersey vocabulary, memory versus memoir, non-blind optimism, why “togetherness” matters and mother tongue lullabies (and non-lullabies.) Plus, we honored the very piece of art that brought us together on the streets of NYC. (Mimi.)
